I’m interested in discovering how to encourage/motivate/empower my grade 3/4 students as writers. Every year, I always have students who are reluctant writers. There are also some students who have difficulty with written output. How can I better meet their needs?
Fuzzy field study question

Have you thought about using E pals – this is a structured educational website that links classrooms around the world. You may find this is a real motivator to writing – it has purpose when they start emailing real people.

I have thought of using e pals. I was thinking of beginning with a blogging discussion between the two grade 3/4 classes that I teach. From there, I was planning on either blogging with another school or sending email messages. I haven’t worked out all of the logistics of the latter possibility. I believe my district plans to open FirstClass to the students, which will make things much easier. I also wonder if there is a way to use iChat somehow.
